Board approves consent agenda and personnel appointments; routine items pass unanimously

On Dec. 11 the Virginia Beach City School Board approved its consent agenda and accepted the personnel report and administrative appointments by voice vote.
Chair Brown listed the consent items, which included textbook adoption for nursing anatomy and physiology, Thalia Elementary School roof replacement, Renaissance Academy welding lab renovation, Lansdowne High School synthetic turf field replacement, an energy performance contract, and the Renaissance Academy year‑3 outcome evaluation recommendations. With no objections, Miss Dwyer moved and Mr. Callan seconded approval. The clerk recorded Mr. Cummings’ remote yes vote and announced 10 ayes; the motion passed.
The board then voted to approve the personnel report and administrative appointments (moved by Miss Dwyer, seconded by Miss Melnick). Again, the clerk recorded 10 ayes. Superintendent Robertson announced four administrative hires: Tova Hayes as assistant principal at Newtown Elementary; George Loder Jr. as assistant principal at Lynnhaven Elementary; Megan Smith as assistant principal at Malibu Elementary; and Sharita Pridgen as assistant principal at Lansdowne High School.
Votes were recorded as voice votes with the clerk announcing the unanimous tallies as "10 ayes." No further discussion or roll‑call challenges were recorded.
