City staff briefed the Richmond Heights City Council on water and sewer infrastructure projects at the Jan. 13 meeting.
An update on the Cleveland Water Department hydro transmission water main renewal described work to rehabilitate a 48‑inch concrete main by slip lining and open-cut methods to install a 42‑inch steel main. The presenter said the project was off to a slower start than anticipated while contractors coordinate shut-offs and other construction issues with the water department; the target completion date given during the meeting was June 2026. Staff said they worked with the contractor (named in the meeting) and waste management to try to ensure trash pickup continuity during construction.
Staff also reported on a Northeast Ohio regional sanitary sewer improvement project. According to the presentation, the contractor kickoff meeting is scheduled and construction is tentatively expected to begin in late January or early February, with Site Works Unlimited identified as the contractor on that project.
Councilmembers asked clarifying questions about timing and neighborhood impacts; staff said they would continue to coordinate with the utility and contractors and to pass along notice to residents if there are planned shut-offs or traffic impacts.
The updates were provided as informational reports; no formal action or vote on project approvals was recorded in the transcript.
