Several Sierra Madre residents used the public-comment period to press council on distinct topics: street-resurfacing data, immigration enforcement policy, senior meal services, and preparedness.
Glenn Lambton challenged the city’s selection of five streets for resurfacing, saying the staff used a PSI method he considers outdated and urging a segment-level PCI analysis instead. "PSI is an outdated method," Lambton said and announced he would file public-records requests for PSI reports and handwritten pothole logs so the public can review the basis for resurfacing decisions. He also urged the council not to resurface South Mountain Trail before a planned water-main replacement, saying the water main leaks frequently.
Deb Sheridan urged the council to adopt a proclamation similar to Pasadena’s that would direct city employees not to use city funds or resources to assist in federal immigration enforcement. Sheridan also asked the city to widely post information about who residents can call if they are stopped or threatened, saying some community members have been threatened by immigration agents at protests. "Please don't be silent," she said.
Mary Carney and others pressed for better outreach on senior services. Carney described Intervale’s weekly home-delivered frozen meals (seven per week for qualifying seniors) and urged that the senior commission distribute information at Hart House and publish details in the senior newsletter. Caroline Brown, speaking from evacuation experience, urged residents to practice preparedness and praised community volunteer groups, noting multiple past evacuations and the importance of personal readiness.
Council took these comments under advisement; staff and council asked for follow-ups on street-data methods, public-works reports, senior-outreach materials and a future agenda item on red-flag street lists and water-main planning.
