Guadalupe County proclaims Feb. 14 as Texas Food Connection Day

Guadalupe County Commissioners on Tuesday approved a proclamation designating Feb. 14, 2025, as Texas Food Connection Day following a presentation from local Farm Bureau representatives.
Farm Bureau representatives said the event is intended to connect farmers and ranchers with consumers and to explain local food production practices. "Food Connection Day gives our farmers and ranchers the opportunity to have conversations with our consumers about where and how their food is grown," said Keith Hebinger of the Guadalupe County Farm Bureau.
The Farm Bureau told the court the organization will serve hamburgers for $1 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 14 at its office at 325 State Highway 46 South; proceeds will go to the local Christian Cupboard. Commissioners voted to accept the proclamation after a motion and second; the vote was recorded in open court as passing.
The proclamation text presented to the court cited statewide agriculture statistics — including an annual economic impact figure and the number and acreage of Texas farms — and noted that about 162,000 acres in Guadalupe County were devoted to cropland and pasture in the previous year. The proclamation will be signed and kept on file by the county.
