Eaton County honors retiring treasurer and six outgoing commissioners

The Eaton County Board of Commissioners adopted a set of resolutions on Dec. 18 honoring Treasurer Robert Robinson and six commissioners who are leaving the board at the end of 2024.
Treasurer Robert Robinson
The board passed a resolution commending Robert Robinson on his retirement as Eaton County treasurer effective Dec. 31, 2024. The resolution notes Robinson’s service as county treasurer since Jan. 1, 2013, credits him with modernizing office processes, improving investment returns, proposing the foreclosure governmental unit and forming the Eaton County Land Bank (established 2019), and cites several demolition projects completed under the land bank’s oversight. Robinson thanked staff and his family during brief remarks and said he would continue to be active in the community after leaving office.
Commissioners recognized
The board also approved resolutions of appreciation for six commissioners leaving the board at the end of their terms: Brian Lawsonhiser (10 years), Barbara Rogers (10 years), Terrence Augustine (12 years), Blake Mulder (16 years), Joe Brailer (listed as longest-serving, 36 years) and Brian Lawsonhiser (recognized earlier). Each resolution listed the committees the commissioner chaired or served on, thanked them for their public service and ordered a copy filed in the county’s permanent records.
State representative Angela Woodward presented State of Michigan tributes signed by the governor and other statewide officials and distributed them to commissioners in attendance.
Procedure and remarks
Resolutions were adopted by voice vote and copies were directed to be signed by the board chair and county clerk and placed in the county records. Commissioners and staff offered tributes from the dais; several departing commissioners used their remarks to thank staff, family and constituents. The board also recognized newly graduated deputies from the sheriff’s office and invited them to introduce themselves.
