John Chaney of Collier Engineering reported three main project updates. On Windgrove Street intersection improvements, overhead utilities are being relocated and potholing to verify gas-line locations is planned; lane-closure permits will be required from both Metro Nashville and TDOT for upcoming mobilization. On the Lower Colosseum Way realignment, updated flood-study revisions have been completed and approved by Metro Water Services' contract reviewer; Collier said the proposed off-site stormwater design was revised to a sand-filter system to reduce both upfront capital cost and long-term maintenance costs.
On the multipurpose Lot 2 improvements, Chaney said the retaining wall is now at full height and underground-electrical inspection was approved last week. Contractors will proceed with wiring, pole-base installation and backfilling, with a plan to complete lighting and power work prior to the fair. Underground stormwater materials are on site and will be barricaded and stored in the northwest corner during the fair; temporary fencing will protect the wall and materials during events. After the fair, contractors will install the underground storm drainage, water services, bioretention pond, final pavement and the Permitract boardwalk.
Board members asked for renderings and a future-project list to help visualize completed work and the multi-year program; the board requested staff circulate available renderings and a consolidated list of upcoming projects across the fairgrounds footprint.
No formal action was taken; the board received the update and asked for follow-up materials.
