District completes school safety camera installs, updates playgrounds and advances stadium and weight‑room agreements

Director Sherry Rozic told the board that the district's school safety improvement grant projects (interior and exterior cameras and supporting infrastructure) were completed by June 30 and that the district has received the grant funds. Staff completed final documentation, including labeled photographs of installations required by the grantor.
Rozic also summarized summer facilities work: stadium bleacher completion is expected around Aug. 28, with a few early away games easing the transition; playground surfacing projects were underway at Mitchell, Fellows and Sawyer elementaries with target completion dates in late August; and the Northwest 13th Street project is in coordination with the City of Ames and the city manager, and will require rezoning actions handled by the project lead (Tenfold).
Rozic presented a proposal for a separate, nonexclusive use agreement with AIMS Cyclone Aquatics Club (ACAC) for weight‑room access. She said the district required ACAC to supply proof of insurance and to have trained personnel on site while participants used the equipment; ACAC would pay $75 per hour for use. Rozic told the board the agreement was written as a separate contract (not an amendment to an existing pool lease) so the district could cancel the use portion if needed without affecting other agreements.
The board ratified a resolution to transfer a remaining balance from Fund 31 (construction) to Fund 33 (SAFE funds) for use on the stadium project; Rozic said the remaining Fund 31 balance is "a little over $290,000." The transfer was approved 6–0.
