Superintendent Lisa Hickey and Principal Carrie Deese led public recognition of volunteer leaders Joy Pasamonte Henry and Vivian Wang, whom the district credited for organizing the Measure J campaign. Deese said the bond will “significantly improve the safety and modernization of our schools” and noted the campaign’s final vote share, 63.8% Yes.
At the meeting the board took two formal actions tied to the bond: it approved a resolution certifying the election results and it approved a resolution establishing the citizen oversight committee that will review bond spending and compliance. Trustees approved both motions with voice votes; the board’s public record shows the motions carried.
Superintendent Hickey said the committee’s application and selection process will start after the Jan. 14 meeting and that the district will publicize openings; the board discussed options for coordinating the Measure J oversight committee with existing citizen committees where membership and duties overlap.
Trustees and community leaders emphasized volunteer contributions during the campaign. As Principal Deese put it during a recognition, “Their energy, dedication, and detailed organization will forever be commemorated as key to this campaign success.” The board did not discuss contract awards or project timelines at this meeting; staff said they will return with next steps for committee recruitment and bond implementation.
