Council recognizes 2024 Lake Forest Academy graduates and honors outgoing Mayor Mark Tetimer

The Lake Forest City Council used part of its Dec. 17 meeting to recognize civic-engagement milestones: staff presented certificates to 21 graduates of the 2024 Lake Forest Academy, and the council formally honored outgoing Mayor Mark Tetimer for his service in 2024.
Jonathan Volsky, the city’s communications and marketing manager, described the Lake Forest Academy program, which began in 2003, and noted the 2024 class completed eight weeks of department presentations and partner briefings. Volsky said 21 participants completed the program; a portion of the class attended the council meeting for a certificate and a photograph.
Later the council recognized Mayor Tetimer’s year of service. A representative from Congresswoman Young Kim’s office, Abigail Factman, presented a congressional certificate commending Tetimer’s leadership and partnership with county, state and federal officials. Several residents — including Margie Lancaster — also offered remarks thanking Tetimer for long-term community service and leadership. Tetimer closed the ceremonial items with a recap of the city’s activities during 2024, citing community events, partnerships and awards the city received.
Ending: The recognitions concluded the ceremonial portion of the meeting prior to the city manager’s report and remaining business.
