The Wayne City Council on July 1 approved an intergovernmental agreement with Wayne County for improvements to Rotary Park (Part 2) in fiscal year 2024–25 that will include installation of two pickleball courts.
City staff said the county grant covers $13,616 of the project; initial contractor conversations indicate total cost will likely exceed the grant and the city has park‑fund dollars to cover the shortfall. Staff estimated the total project cost ‘‘probably somewhere around $20,000’’ and said the city will send the project out for competitive bids. The work was expected to be completed before the end of summer.
Council approved the agreement; the motion carried. Staff will proceed to bid the work and return to council with final contract awards.
