Tri‑Creek board hears natatorium and athletics progress; field turf drainage work ongoing

Representatives from Skillman updated the Tri‑Creek board on Aug. 14 about construction and improvement work across district facilities, focusing on the natatorium, athletic surfaces and site work.

On the natatorium, the Skillman representative said interior and exterior masonry work continues, third‑party prism testing is being used to verify structural strength, precast bleacher setting and rebar work are underway and slabs are planned to be poured within approximately four weeks with structural steel set for mid‑September. "We're going to be pouring slabs here within 4 weeks and then buttoning up the shell," the presenter said.

Work on athletic surfaces included applying a surfactant to field turf that technicians reported “tremendously improved the drainage.” The contractor plans another surfactant application and, if needed, to remove and wash the infill beads and sand from the turf perimeter. Skillman also reported continued investigation into a few tennis court and parking areas where contractors claimed work met specification but the district observed ongoing localized ponding.

Board members requested a site visit after track delamination patching and asked that forthcoming independent test reports be combined with the district’s Firefly testing before distribution. Skillman said fire alarm installation is complete, pending a few minor signoffs, and that mockups for brick cleaning and staining on the south elevation will be presented for administration review.

The board thanked Skillman for the detailed update and said staff would continue monitoring and follow up on the remaining items.
