Board approves Amplify CKLA for grades 5–6; district streamlines report cards and grading

Following teacher and stakeholder review the Tri‑Creek board approved Amplify CKLA for grades 5–6 and heard plans to revert K–4 report cards to a clearer format, move K–1 grading/communication to Skyward and ClassDojo, and keep Canvas for grades 2–12.
Tammy (Speaker 8), the district curriculum lead, told the board the district conducted a multi‑pronged textbook adoption process that included teacher and stakeholder review and state rubric alignment. For grades 5 and 6 she recommended adopting Amplify CKLA, a decision the board approved later in the meeting as part of action item votes.
Tammy also explained a district decision to move away from the MasteryConnect reporting wheel for elementary parents, saying stakeholders wanted a clearer presentation of how their child is progressing. K–1 teachers will use ClassDojo and enter end‑of‑period grades in Skyward rather than Canvas; grades 2–12 will continue using Canvas. For specials, grades 5 and 6 will use pass/fail to encourage exploration in music, PE, library and STEM.
Board members praised the teacher involvement and noted the potential to convert grades for students who need traditional A–F representations for outside recognition programs. The curriculum office said it would report back with further implementation details and teacher supports.
