Piedmont Board elects new officers, adopts teacher policies and approves school names and agreements

The Piedmont Board of Education on Tuesday reorganized its leadership and approved a package of personnel and operational items, including a compensation schedule for sign language interpreters, two board policies on adjunct teachers and proficiency-based promotion, two new school names, and agreements for student clinicals and musical instruments.

In reorganizing, the board voted to elect Lane Jones as board president, Jared Mosher as vice president, Neil Cast as board clerk and Derek Jones as deputy board clerk. The votes, as recorded in the meeting, included several abstentions during the officer elections; the board carried each election and seated the officers for the remainder of the 2025–26 term.

The board approved a proposed compensation schedule for sign language interpreters after the administration said a student in the district requires an interpreter and the district previously had no salary schedule for that role. The motion passed unanimously among recorded votes.
