Piedmont Board elects new officers, adopts teacher policies and approves school names and agreements

The board also approved extra-duty stipends as listed on a meeting attachment and accepted two recommended school names: Stone Ridge Intermediate School and Scissor Tail Elementary School. Board members said the Stone Ridge name aligns the intermediate site with the adjacent elementary campus; discussion about Scissor Tail included a brief question about whether similar names exist elsewhere in the state but no formal objection.
District leaders asked the board to approve an agreement allowing Saint Augustine University speech pathology students to complete clinical placements in district schools; the board approved the agreement after members noted the student lives in the district and would be placed locally.
The board approved a revised quote from Edmond Music for concert toms for $6,092 to be paid from bond funds. The administration said the instrument purchases come from previously budgeted bond money for instruments.
Other formal items approved by the board included the consent agenda (items a through u), employment appointments listed on attachment C, and the 2025—26 negotiated agreement with the Piedmont Association of Educators (PAE).
