Staff updates: Camp Morrison application withdrawn; commissioners warned about phishing emails

At the Aug. 6 meeting staff reported two procedural items of note. Miss McCallister said two special-exception hearings (lots with less than 50 feet of frontage) are scheduled for Aug. 20, and updated the commission that the Camp Morrison application was withdrawn while the applicant evaluates whether it can proceed under the 2013 rezoning and associated proffers.
Commissioners also raised concerns about fraudulent emails and phone calls impersonating commissioners and requesting gifts or money. Members described receiving messages that used official-looking names and urged colleagues not to respond. Staff said IT was asked to remove commissioners’ addresses from the public city website where possible, though commissioners noted addresses can still be located through other public directories and that the city has limited control over third-party sources. Staff advised not responding to suspicious messages and to report incidents to IT.
