Community Activities Commission approves 2026 work plan
Summary
The Community Activities Commission unanimously approved its 2026 work plan at the Jan. 14 meeting after a motion by Commissioner Christian and a second by Ed; commissioners will present the work plan to City Council at a special meeting on Jan. 20.
Chair Nathan Sticks asked the commission to approve the 2026 work plan that commissioners had reviewed in their meeting packet. Commissioner Christian moved to approve the plan "as presented," and Ed seconded the motion. Multiple commissioners responded "Aye," and Chair Sticks declared the 2026 work plan approved as presented.
The approved work plan will be presented to the City Council at a special meeting on Jan. 20 at 6:30 p.m.; materials in the council packet will include the work plan document and an agenda bill for council action. Commissioners discussed presentation format options (single presenter, multiple presenters or divided segments) and proposed aligning the commission's pitch with the America250 themes (America Gives, America's Story, America's Field Trip) to emphasize volunteerism, storytelling and youth engagement during the council presentation.
Commissioners agreed to provide quick feedback on the presentation; staff will prepare slides and visuals and coordinate logistics for the Jan. 20 presentation. The CAC will next meet on Feb. 11; the agenda for a Jan. 27 CAC agenda-setting meeting (Zoom) was also noted.
