Troy board elects Packard president, Reddick vice president and confirms committee appointments

At the Troy City School District Board of Education's organizational meeting Tuesday, board members nominated and confirmed leadership and committee assignments for 2025.

Mrs. Packard was nominated and confirmed as board president; Ben Reddick was nominated and confirmed as vice president for 2025. Board members indicated assent by voice when the nominations were presented. The board also approved the district's 2025 meeting schedule as set out in Exhibit A.

The board confirmed its slate of committee positions and external representation. Ben Reddick will continue as the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) legislative liaison, and the board named an alternate to attend OSBA meetings when the liaison is unavailable. The board also affirmed representation to the Upper Valley board; Mr. Fox expressed interest in an additional three-year term as the district’s Upper Valley representative.

Board members discussed community representation on the city recreation board and Haynor board, noting terms expiring for Tom Dunn and Eric Herman and encouraging the board to consider community or staff representatives for future appointments. Members suggested asking those board representatives to present to the school board once or twice a year to improve communication.

Separately, the board accepted appointments to its internal committees and approved a slate of external assignments. Members described some committee terms as one-year appointments and said they would review future replacements as terms expire.

These organization actions were approved by voice vote and recorded as adopted. The board begins its 2025 cycle with the officer slate and committee structure in place.
