County proclaims 'WHO Ladies of Sun City Day' after group reports $225,797 raised in 2024

The Williamson County Commissioners Court unanimously adopted a proclamation declaring Jan. 28, 2025, as Women Helping Others (WHO) Ladies of Sun City Day.
Commissioner Cook read the proclamation, which noted the group began in 2010 with 12 members and grew to more than 300 members by 2024. The proclamation credited WHO with raising $225,797 in 2024 and more than $1.2 million since its founding; it also said the group distributed funds to more than 75 local nonprofits in 2024 and supports programs that promote health, education and well‑being in Georgetown and across Williamson County.
Maria Tolleson, newly elected president of WHO, and immediate past president Terry Fearly described the group’s activities at the meeting. Tolleson said WHO’s 2024 third‑party fundraiser supported Hounds for Heroes, which assists veterans and first responders with service dogs. Fearly thanked the court and emphasized the organization’s role in providing purpose and volunteer opportunities for older residents.
The court voted to adopt the proclamation on the record and members of WHO and partner organizations joined commissioners for a group photograph after the vote.
