The Paradise Town Council on Feb. 11 appointed two council members to an ad hoc facilities committee to review next steps for town‑owned facilities lost or damaged in the 2018 Camp Fire and to advise staff on replacement planning.
Staff told council that five municipal structures were lost in the Camp Fire — Fire Station 83 on Wagstaff, the Public Works corporation yard Quonset hut, the Pentz Road residence, the Jeffords Building on Black Olive Drive and another facility — and that the committee would review departmental needs and facilities replacement priorities as settlement progress continues.
During the meeting council nominated and then voted to appoint council members Greg (listed in roll call as a voting member) and Woody (as recorded in the meeting) to serve on the ad hoc committee. The committee’s work plan will include an overview of existing facilities, departmental needs and advising staff on next steps; no budget impacts were reported at appointment.
Separately, council also appointed two council members—the mayor and another member—to a Cal Fire contract negotiating committee to work with staff on renegotiating the town’s fire contract that expires in June. Council asked staff to work with the appointed members and return with draft negotiation positions.
