Council adopts Pride crosswalk long-term installation and amends crosswalk policy

Leesburg — After a prior presentation, the Town Council voted on Jan. 13 to adopt a Pride crosswalk as a long-term installation and to amend the town’s crosswalk policy.
The mayor noted the item had been discussed at length at the work session the night before and called for a motion to approve the long-term installation and policy amendment. The motion was seconded and, after a voice vote, the mayor announced the tally as five in favor and two opposed.
Council did not add additional modifications or conditions on the record beyond approving the long-term installation and the policy amendment. The vote recorded in the meeting transcript was 5-2 in favor. The council also moved on to other agenda items after the vote.
