The Superior School District Board of Education recorded the following formal actions during its Jan. 12, 2026 meeting.
• Minutes: Approved minutes from the Dec. 8, 2025 meeting (motion carried).
• Overnight field trip: Approved an overnight field trip request from Marshall Disrud for grades 6–8 to attend Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center in Lanesboro, Minn., in February 2026. District staff confirmed a vehicle‑use requirements agreement and insurance verification for rental vans; motion carried.
• Committees: Accepted reports from the Operations Committee (including IT director Dan Whitaker’s informational presentation), Policies & Rules Committee, Personnel Negotiations Committee, Budget & Insurance Committee, Legislative Committee, and Teaching & Learning Committee (motions carried for each report).
• Policy: Took and approved the second reading of Policy 75 40.08 (artificial intelligence) as presented (motion carried).
• Personnel: Approved the updated January 2026 new‑hires and separations report; accepted the resignation of Stephen Guston, director of buildings and grounds, effective Jan. 8, 2026, with liquidated damages waived; Jamie Wilson will provide interim oversight and the position will be posted.
• Gifts, grants and bequests: Accepted donations received in December 2025 (motion carried).
• Open enrollment: Approved 60 general‑education open‑enrollment spaces and 0 special‑education spaces for the 2026–27 school year (motion carried).
• Financial operations: Approved payment of preapproved bills (motion carried).
