Linn County fills two local posts: DeKlots reappointed to fire-district board; Ronald Berson appointed to veterans commission

The board reappointed Mike DeKlots as trustee for Fire District 5 for a three-year term effective Jan. 1, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2028; the motion carried by voice vote.
The board also appointed Ronald Berson to fill a vacancy on the Linn County Veterans Affairs Commission through June 30, 2026. Dustin Peterson, director of Linn County Veterans Services, described a competitive applicant pool and said Berson brings a combination of active and reserve Air Force service and previous local veterans'service experience. Ronald Berson, who said he moved to Linn County about two-and-a-half years ago and is a long-time American Legion member, introduced himself and said he looks forward to serving veterans in Linn County.
Both appointments were approved by voice vote.
