Program administrator Kurt Schmidt presented proposed language changes that remove exemptions no longer consistent with off-premise sign rules and update zone references following the 2023 UDC changes. The amendments are technical in nature and were previously reviewed by the design review committee; a letter of support from industry stakeholders was provided prior to the hearing.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about billboards and inflatable advertising devices; staff said billboard policy was not changed in this update and that the revision focused on internal consistency and removing obsolete exemptions. The commission voted unanimously to recommend adoption to City Council.
The recommended ordinance will proceed to City Council for final action.
