Mansfield claim committee approves multiple damage settlements, tables one pending documents

Mansfield — Members of the Mansfield City Council claim committee reviewed a series of citizen claims for vehicle and property damage and approved several settlements recommended by the law director.
The committee opened the meeting and proceeded despite the absence of one committee member. For claim 100225 (854 Gershoot Road), the law director recommended and the committee approved a full settlement of $607.83 for a basement backup and water damage. For claim 13-051425 filed by Robert Lambert, the law director reviewed photographs and recommended a $1,500 settlement for vehicle damage caused by debris from city work; Lambert had sought $5,968.04. The committee voted to accept the $1,500 recommendation.
For claim 17-060352 by Duane Price, who said his 2025 vehicle sustained a punctured tire after running over metal left in the roadway, the law director recommended reimbursement of $250 (one tire, plug, mounting and balancing); the committee moved to approve that recommendation. Price told the committee, "Only thing I really have to add is the street repairs everywhere that you go in the city. Everything is completely torn up." Committee members and staff acknowledged extensive ongoing street upgrades and said some disruption and debris are expected during construction.
The committee also approved a $909.20 settlement for claim 22-O71025 (Jacob Public), which alleged a city worker backed into a newly installed gutter while pouring a concrete pad. For claim 23-072225 (Jasmine Lewis), the committee approved $264.96 after the law director confirmed a city truck was on Main Street at the time Lewis said a rock dislodged and cracked her windshield; Lewis had said the truck was traveling "fast." The law director’s recommendation took into account the confirmed presence of the city vehicle and the likely repair costs.
The committee tabled claim 25-0082525 (Christopher Norris) pending additional documentation: members requested a second repair estimate and the claimant’s original, signed forms after staff detected inconsistencies in the submitted paperwork and address fields. An unidentified committee member said the item should be suspended so correct originals and a second estimate could be provided.
The meeting concluded its transcript with the committee beginning consideration of claim 29-102825 by JFB Hospitality Martins (106 Northman Street). Miss Framos, present for that claim, reported a full-basement flood allegedly caused by contractor work; the law director indicated the city’s contractor, Wallbridge, may be responsible. That matter remained under discussion as the transcript ended.
The committee’s actions were procedural approvals of law-office recommendations, approvals based on submitted receipts and photographs, and one instance of tabling for additional documentation.
