During routine reports, council members and staff shared several community updates and administrative notes.
Announcements included a volunteer headstone cleaning project beginning at 9 a.m. on Sept. 13 at Old Valley Barrenburg and a comprehensive plan outreach meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 6:30–8:00 p.m., at Granville Intermediate School. Staff encouraged volunteers and residents to participate.
On infrastructure, staff noted ODOT maintains a stretch adjacent to the highway; the village discussed plans to add landscaping but acknowledged coordination with ODOT is required and the work likely will not be completed this year. On technology, staff said Surface laptops have aged out after about five years and presented options to the council—bring-your-own devices, procuring new devices, or other approaches to separate municipal systems from personal ones; the council will discuss device policy at a retreat.
Staff also reported that preliminary intergovernmental discussions with Alexander, Johnstown, New Albany Company and Jersey Township are ongoing but are in an early stage. A potential jury-duty scheduling conflict for a staff member was noted and the meeting adjourned shortly thereafter.
