School superintendent warns SNAP benefit interruption may affect students; housing project and elders meals progress reported

Robbins highlighted recent student and program successes and said the district saw 19 applicants for a recent program cycle (up from 17 previously). He warned the assembly that Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits ended Nov. 1 due to a federal shutdown and said the district is monitoring possible impacts on students and families. “That might have an impact on our community and on our school community for sure,” Robbins said, urging staff and residents to look out for students in need and to contact the school when assistance is required.
Robbins also reported that a school-housing project is moving forward (one house framed and trusses to be installed) and thanked staff and volunteers for elders meals, which he estimated at roughly 35 to 45 meals served per day.
The superintendent noted changes to the school-board meeting schedule (moved from Nov. 11 to Nov. 18 for audit-related reasons) and said the district would circulate the change via its channels.
