Tippecanoe County commissioners approve routine contracts, subdivision variances and overtime resolution

The Tippecanoe County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 20 approved a slate of routine administrative actions, including subdivision variances, on-call professional services agreements and a resolution addressing overtime calculations for 2026.
The board approved the minutes from the Jan. 5 meeting and accepted claims dated Jan. 20 and the payroll dated Jan. 16 by voice vote. Two subdivision variance requests were presented by Ryan (Speaker 5) and approved: variance 5319 for the Bauer Ridge subdivision, which would allow Vail Street to serve as a temporary main access to County Road 250 West until a future northern access is built; and Subdivision Case 5320 (Enclave at Klondike), which requested no sidewalk on the south side now while providing a 10-foot trail on the north to link to a school crosswalk.
Commissioners also approved annual on-call professional services agreements for 2026 with Butler, Fairman & Seifert; Christopher B. Burke Engineering; V S Engineering; and T. Burke Design Services, and they accepted the county's annual speed-limit and traffic-control device database, which records speed limits, stop-sign and signal locations for the county's traffic ordinance.
Speaker 7 (Matt) presented Resolution 2026-04-CM to formalize overtime calculations for nonexempt employees in 2026, noting the calendar produces 27 pay periods and that federal overtime calculations (a multiplier cited in the meeting as 1.6) govern hourly overtime rates; the board approved the resolution by voice vote. The presenter referenced a county council ordinance that provides the appropriation for the change.
Smaller procurement items approved included a Pinnacle Mailing maintenance contract for a Formax pressure sealer for $270.45 and a contract with Big Bend Builders for $52,521 to perform ADA restroom work at the Chippewa County Battlefield.
