Wetlands board sets April 15 deadline for Pulaski riprap remediation; progress reported on Captain’s Cove and Meadville living‑shoreline

At the December meeting the Accomack County Wetlands Board received an enforcement update from Paul Wasson covering several outstanding matters and set a remediation deadline for one property.
Wasson reported the Captain’s Cove matter has preliminary plans and that a JPA is expected before the next meeting. He said a Cameron/Meadville property recently submitted a JPA that may qualify as a living shoreline and includes marsh restoration.
On a separate, older enforcement case involving a property owned or controlled by a person identified in staff materials as Pulaski, Wasson said the owner had marked the location where contractor‑placed riprap "had placed the riprap on the marsh and killed the marsh." Staff told the board they now had an enforceable plan and recommended a deadline for removal of gravel and replanting. After board discussion about appropriate planting seasons and timing, members agreed that April 15 would be a reasonable date for the owner to complete removal and restoration work.
Board members emphasized they intended to be fair while requiring timely remediation: "I wanna be more than fair, but I want it done," the Chair said. Staff will communicate the deadline and enforcement expectations to the property owner and will monitor compliance.
