The Baberton City Council's City Properties & Parks and Recreation committee reported a long meeting on Jan. 12 that covered organizational appointments, equipment purchases and seasonal programming.
Committee members said volunteers nominated Dan Noor as chair and Nina as secretary for the Parks & Recreation group. The committee approved purchasing a 10-by-20 event tent and selected a Michigan vendor with a Florida backup to lower shipping costs. Staff reported completed fencing work (Eduard fencing noted as done) and that budgets were submitted to finance. Other items included record retention filed before deadline, adult winter events (sweetheart dance in February), gazebo rental preparations, a Purple Paw party in July and a hypnotist event scheduled for March 21. Staff also said they are planning dog-park improvements and senior technology classes focused on scams and basic video calling.
Committee members characterized the session as a substantial planning meeting (about 90 minutes) and adjourned at 06:04 PM. No formal ordinances resulted directly from the Parks & Recreation report on Jan. 12.
