St. Joseph County planning commission elects Devon as president, appoints committee members

The St. Joseph County Area Planning Commission elected Adam Devon president, named Eugene Matzat vice president and appointed Tom England to the executive committee during its Jan. 20 meeting.
The nominations were made from the floor and the commission held a roll-call vote on the slate. Dr. Lauck, Eugene Matzat, DJ Tavernier, Chris Winchell and Adam Devon recorded affirmative votes; the chair announced the motion carried.
The commission approved a slate of plat-committee appointments presented by staff. Appointees listed by the commission included Skye Meters (alternate Hannah Parkhill); Randy James (alternate Andrew Spittles); Ron Messler (alternate Zach Lute); Brianna McCall (alternate David Ekins); and Derek Eder (alternate John Law). Dr. Lauck moved to approve the plat committee as presented; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
Members also approved the commission's two BZA representatives, retaining DJ Tavernier and Dr. Lauck in those roles. The appointments were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Beyond personnel actions, the commission approved routine business including findings of fact from Dec. 16 and the November and December meeting minutes (Nov. 18, 2025 was cited for the November minutes). Dr. Lauck moved to approve those items and motions were seconded; voice votes carried.
The meeting closed after a motion to adjourn passed; multiple members thanked DJ Tavernier and staff for enabling the meeting to reach quorum and complete business.
