Commissioner Brian (speaking as a member of the commission) told colleagues he called Vintage Window Restoration in Albany after reading the contractor's email and spoke with Chris Gustafson, who, according to Brian, said he would "never recommend replacing a wood window with a vinyl window in a historic district." Brian said Gustafson told him the contractor had provided only a Google Earth photo, not a close inspection, and that claims in the applicant's email — including use of argon gas — were mischaracterized.
