HPAB to step up recruitment as three member terms near expiry

Danielle Valdez, administrative support for the HPAB, said she discovered a discrepancy in the county vacancy postings and has coordinated with the CIO's office and county publications to ensure board openings are advertised correctly. "We're going to be... aggressively, pushing out the vacancies, in any means that we can think of," Valdez said, citing print, online, social media and the Volunteer Los Alamos recruitment platform. She said staff will also create small QR-code handouts linking directly to the application.
Why it matters: three HPAB terms expire April 30, 2026, and members discussed reapplying. The council liaison advised members to complete applications in time for interviews so appointments can be placed on a consent agenda prior to the reappointment deadline.
