Mister Standish announced the executive-session item and read the legal basis aloud: "Pursuant to ARS 38 dash 4 31.0311 and A 3." A motion to go into executive session to interview candidates for human resources director, town attorney and town clerk was made, seconded and approved by voice vote with the ayes recorded as 6, 0. Council member Green was not present for the meeting.
The council recessed the executive session for lunch and resumed at 1:45 p.m. after which the body returned to open session to record action. In open session, the council moved to "proceed as directed in executive session" and approved that motion by a 6-0 voice vote; the motion was seconded, with Vice Mayor Barrett recorded as the seconder. Finally, the council moved to adjourn the special session; that motion was seconded by Council member Jones Ivy and approved 6-0.
All votes taken in the open session were unanimous among the six members present; the minutes and roll call recorded Council member Green as unable to join the special session. The agenda item in open session was described as "approval of any direction to the town attorney and/or necessary staff as discussed [in] executive session pertaining to the town attorney search."
