Miles Pichell, an architect, told the Stamford City Planning Board the proposal is a small accessibility-focused addition for his client, Paula Green, at 53 Archer Lane and requested approval for a variance into the setback.
“I have a very small, 6 foot addition to a residential property for my client Paula Green,” Pichell said, adding the work addresses the homeowner’s mobility problems and would reduce difficulty using a shared bathtub. He described the extension as about 5.9 feet and said the combined setback request amounts to a 3-foot variance.
The board had no substantive questions and a member moved to approve the request. After a call for a second, which the transcript records as coming from “Ravi,” the motion passed unanimously. The meeting did not record individual roll-call votes or a numerical tally in the transcript.
The applicant argued the change was modest and would improve daily life for the resident without injurious effects to the neighborhood. The planner/architect said the option of a rear addition had been more expensive, and the proposed addition was the most practical solution for the homeowner’s needs.
The board’s announcement of approval was the final formal action on the item. The meeting proceeded to other routine scheduling business and adjourned shortly after the vote.
