The Art and Public Places (APP) Advisory Board opened its Jan. 5 meeting with approval of minutes from the Nov. 20, 2025 meeting and then moved through working-group reports and pending items.
Procedure and approvals: An APP member moved to approve the Nov. 20 minutes; the motion was seconded and the chair recorded the approval as unanimous.
Working-group updates: Staff reported two artist-design contracts for a wall mosaic have been drafted and sent to artists for redlining. The lion-sculpture stipend and nature-center stone installation are in late-stage coordination with galleries, fabricators and parks staff; dates and install sequencing remain to be finalized. The Senior Center security gate has run into installation snags and the county is soliciting a new contractor and revised quotes.
Procurement and contracts: Staff said several contracts have completed legal review and were sent to artists as draft agreements today, with a 60-day design deliverable timeline written into the drafts. The board discussed how fabrication and installation contracts may be separate and that installation timing could shift without changing fabrication costs.
Governance items: Staff reminded members that several APP terms expire in March; a public notice and reapplication process will begin in the coming weeks so interviews and council action can be scheduled in time to fill expirations.
Calendar and next steps: APP previewed its next meeting on Jan. 22, 2026 (a follow-up Fire Station presentation) and discussed a February on-site meeting and public meeting tied to the Fire Station 4 outreach plan. Several working groups set dates in January and February to coordinate follow-up actions.
The board adjourned at 07:21.
