Overall call volume has been light, which allowed crews to perform maintenance and equipment rehabilitation.
The chief also described the department’s raffle: tickets cost $50 and each ticket is entered in all 12 monthly drawings ("a gun a month"). He said the prize list includes Weatherby shotguns and rifles and noted a suppressor was included this year with no $200 federal transfer tax required. Tickets may be purchased from any fireman.
In public comment, Chief Johnson recognized shop foreman Brian Evans for his behind-the-scenes work keeping municipal vehicles running economically, praising Evans’s creativity at finding cost-effective repair solutions and asking colleagues and residents to thank him when they see him.
Council members had brief clarifying questions about raffle entries and drawing schedules; no action was taken and the council moved on to other agenda items.
