Lake Elmo — Commissioners at the Lake Elmo Parks Commission meeting on Jan. 18 elected Ellen as chair and Tracy as vice chair and heard several operational updates from staff.
During the meeting's procedural business, nominations were opened for chair and vice chair. Ellen consented to the nomination and was elected by voice vote after a second; commissioners then nominated and elected Tracy as vice chair by voice vote. The minutes record voice votes with all members saying "aye" and no nays recorded.
In communications and updates, Adam told commissioners warm weather and rain had degraded the rink surface; crews applied a new layer of ice and will re-groom as conditions permit. Adam also reported that Lions Park's replacement project missed a cost-reduction guideline, creating an additional $10,000 cost. He said he will request that amount from City Council at its next meeting; an alternative would be having Public Works install safety surfacing at a lower in-house cost or buying the material at reduced price (Adam said 250 cubic yards could be purchased for about $6,000). Adam characterized the options as: seek $10,000 from council or accept public works' installation and smaller landscape allowances.
The commission adjourned by voice vote at the end of the meeting.
