Superintendent reports small federal meal reimbursements, Filter First water upgrades and upcoming student‑services vacancy

During Jan. 14 comments Superintendent McMahon provided several operational updates: a federal CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) audit yielded reimbursements of about $540 for October and "a little over $400" for November; the district is moving forward with a 'Filter First' state grant to upgrade drinking water systems with purchases ordered and maintenance scheduled; Will Anklin was introduced as a recently hired technical support specialist; and Director of Student Services Lon Smith submitted a resignation letter to retire, with Smith expected to remain through February while the job is posted.
McMahon said the Filter First work includes filter installations at drinking water points and that director of buildings & grounds Gary Cox has taken responsibility for the project. The superintendent said he will share Comprehensive Needs Assessment documents (CNAs) from recent internal building reviews on the district website in the coming days.
What’s next: administration will post CNAs online, continue Filter First installations as scheduled, and move forward with recruitment for the student services director role.
