Board names Jefferson County Public Health as regional Early Childhood Council provider

The commissioners unanimously approved a joint recommendation submitted to the Colorado Department of Early Childhood naming Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) as the regional Early Childhood Council provider after a competitive scoring process; staff will submit the recommendation to the state before Dec. 31.
The Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners on Dec. 16 voted to authorize the chair to sign a joint recommendation naming Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) as the regional Early Childhood Council (ECC) provider for Clear Creek, Gilpin and Jefferson counties.
Mary O'Neil briefed the board on the open, multi‑county selection process and said a selection committee — including county commissioners and staff from the three counties — used a consistent rubric to evaluate applicants. She reported that JCPH scored 510 points compared with 401 points for the other applicant, Childcare Innovations, and that representatives across the three counties unanimously recommended JCPH based on statutory alignment, fiscal capacity and operational readiness. "The selection committee ... unanimously recommends Jefferson County Public Health as the early childhood council provider," O'Neil said.
Commissioners expressed thanks to the selection committee and staff; the board approved the motion authorizing submission of the joint recommendation to the Colorado Department of Early Childhood and instructed staff to begin transition planning with partner counties and the state.
Action: Motion to approve regular agenda item 8.1 (authorize chair to sign joint recommendation for JCPH) was moved and approved unanimously.
