Erie council approves Parkdale North PD amendment and preliminary plat after residents press for parks, school safety

Erie Town Council approved an amendment to the Parkdale North planned development and the Parkdale North Preliminary Plat No. 4 on March 27, clearing the way for the next phase of the Parkdale community that will include roughly 534 residential lots, several pocket parks, and a 15‑acre school site.

The action followed a lengthy public hearing and robust public comment focused on park equity and neighborhood connectivity. Several Parkdale residents urged the town and developer to deliver a meaningful neighborhood park and safer pedestrian access to schools and town services. "We can't get out of our neighborhood," resident Brianna Brown said during public comment, describing a lack of sidewalks and safe bike paths and calling the subdivision "an island." Other speakers said fee‑in‑lieu payments and future school fields are not adequate substitutes for a nearby, walkable neighborhood park.
