Council reviews FY25–26 budget timeline and considers joining regional 1¢ parks tax

Staff said the town’s estimated share of proceeds would be about $800,000, based on population and projected tax collections. The proposal would require a special election; council members said public education and clear project lists will be necessary if the town pursues the measure.
Council asked staff to work with the regional organizers to gather detailed project costs, produce a one-page summary for public outreach and to place the item on a future workshop so the council can decide whether to support placement on the ballot and which local projects to submit for funding.
No formal decision to join the taxing measure was made; staff were assigned to gather materials and return with recommendations.
