Mike, county road staff, presented a draft letter from the Wyoming Department of Transportation requesting local support for installing additional passing lanes between Casper and Shoshone to improve traffic flow and reduce accidents. He said exact locations are preliminary and will be refined when funding and project details are available.
A commissioner moved that the county send the letter of support and the motion was seconded. The board voted by voice and recorded ayes; the chair said the letter will be sent. Roads staff also briefed commissioners on winter snow removal, graveling work, Alcova flood repairs and upcoming bids for a motor grader; staff said the semi truck purchase would likely be deferred because of high equipment prices and limited local aggregate suppliers.
No formal conditions or amendments to the YDOT letter were made during the vote; staff will draft and send the support letter.
