Facilities staff reports lingering problems from county power outage; elevator, lighting and boiler work underway

Kurt, county facilities staff, told the commissioners that the county has experienced a handful of lingering problems since a major power outage. He said one elevator at the Hall of Justice is down awaiting parts, a dimmer relay rack on the fifth floor at the Townsend supplying courtroom lighting failed and the overseas part has been delayed beyond the estimated delivery, and a variable‑speed drive on a Townsend cooling pump is on order.

Kurt said crews have installed temporary lighting in the courtroom and that repairs to boilers (two new penthouse boilers) and new carpet and countertops at the Hall of Justice are in progress. He reported insurance claims for damaged screens and boilers at the juvenile detention center have been filed and some replacements already completed. Kurt also said the health department move is imminent and VPN access to the building control system is in place to monitor HVAC systems remotely.

Commissioners asked about continued problems from the outage; Kurt said most systems are functional and outstanding parts are ordered. The board did not take formal action on facilities items but asked staff to continue coordination with risk management and vendors.
