Greensboro City Council on Jan. 20 approved a series of funding ordinances and related contract actions to support the Mitchell Water Treatment Plant emerging contaminants and residuals improvements. Council adopted budget amendments and approved a major construction change order for the Haskell Company as well as agreements for construction administration and resident project representative services with HDR Engineering.
Staff told council the project is a major, multi-phased infrastructure investment to address emerging contaminant removal and residuals handling at the Mitchell facility. The proposed contracts and change orders included multi-hundred-million dollar figures for construction and associated architecture/engineering oversight. Council considered the items together due to their interdependence and voted to approve the funding authorizations and contract actions.
Council members had no questions in the meeting and approved the items unanimously. Staff will proceed with contract administration and change-order management under the approved budgets and report progress in subsequent capital project updates.
