Urbana Free Library trustees approve consent agenda, update patron code and pass three thank‑you resolutions

After swearing in a new trustee, the board approved the meeting agenda and then passed the consent agenda, which included minutes from Dec. 9, 2025; payrolls for 12/12/2025 ($140,575.67) and 12/26/2025 ($147,506.24); and multiple vendor bills (amounts read aloud by the chair). No individual items were removed from the consent agenda and the motion passed by voice vote.
The board next approved an update to the patron code of conduct, described in the meeting as primarily a language change to the title and phrasing to make it more palatable to patrons. The motion to update the patron code was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote.
Trustees then read and approved three ceremonial resolutions:
- Resolution 2026-01 honored Carol Inskeep for more than 30 years of service at the Urbana Free Library, crediting her work in teen and adult programming, outreach and digital-collection support.
- Resolution 2026-02 recognized Trustee Darius White (a library trustee since April 2024) for contributions including serving as the Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) liaison, participation in the library’s 150th anniversary and work on outreach and facility projects.
- Resolution 2026-03 thanked Mike Hannon for his service as the library’s facilities manager since 2021, listing projects such as the east air handler replacement, renovation oversight, mold mitigation and parking‑lot resurfacing.
All three resolutions were moved, seconded and passed by voice vote with no oppositions recorded in the transcript.
The board also noted there remains one open trustee seat (Justin was welcomed but is not the replacement for Darius White).
