Grant County fiscal court approves claims, makes two appointments and Public Properties OKs $407.20 treasurer’s bond

Grant County’s fiscal court on Jan. 20 approved routine fiscal business, confirmed two personnel appointments and heard reports on jail security equipment before adjourning and moving into a short Public Properties Corporation meeting.
The court approved claims for the general fund, road fund and jail fund, and the transfers presented for Jan. 20, 2026. A motion to approve the claims was made and seconded; members voted in favor and the motion carried.
The fiscal court appointed Shelby Sullivan, identified in the record as a registered nurse, to the Grant County Local Board of Health effective January 2026 with a term expiring Dec. 31, 2026. The court also appointed Tammy Jackson to a temporary, part‑time building inspector assistant position retroactive to Jan. 14, 2026. Both appointments were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
In reports, a member of the court said a body scanner has been installed and observed in operation at the county detention center and called it an asset for detecting contraband. Meeting participants noted that photographs of the installation would be available after the meeting.
After adjourning the fiscal court portion of the meeting, the Public Properties Corporation convened. The corporation approved its minutes and authorized payment of the treasurer’s bond in the amount of $407.20; those motions were moved, seconded and approved. The Public Properties meeting then was adjourned.
The court announced its next fiscal meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., and noted a Feb. 3 recognition of Junior Hunter with the Corinth Fire Department.
