The commission's acting chair moved the nomination up the agenda after the nominating committee said it had reviewed five letters of interest and recommended Solve for the vacancy. A motion to appoint Solve carried by voice vote; the chair recorded the result and said, “Welcome back, Solve.” The chair also noted the appointment “still has to be approved by council.”
Members discussed logistics for placing the appointment on the council agenda. Michael McCarrie was identified in the meeting as the staff member responsible for submitting items to council; the planning development committee chair said they could add the appointment under planning and development if appropriate.
The action taken at the commission is a recommendation and does not become effective until the council acts. The commission recorded the appointment vote at the meeting and directed follow‑up to ensure the item appears on the council calendar.
