Kimberly Dobbs, who identified herself as an organizer and as leader of the Kim Stars, opened the program on behalf of the city council and quoted Dr. King, saying, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?" She urged unity across neighborhoods, faiths and generations and framed the event as part of continuing King's work in the community.
An emcee introduced an invocation and a blessing of food to be offered by Pastor Christina Prince of Reshape Missionary Baptist Church. In the invocation, the speaker gave thanks for Dr. King's life and legacy and called on attendees to sustain their work toward justice and dignity. "We thank you for the life and legacy of doctor Martin Luther King Junior, a servant of the gospel, a prophet of justice, and a voice that was raised in a critical hour that we needed him the most," the invocation stated.
Organizers also announced musical contributions from the Aniston Community Choir and local performers. A choir representative said, "We stand together with you all today in love," and the program noted that the Kim Stars would perform following breakfast and the musical selections.
A presenter provided context on recent community initiatives, noting that the city hosted a Mayoral Scholarship Hall that raised funds for local graduating students in 2023 and again in November 2024. The speaker described the scholarship events as part of broader efforts to create educational opportunities for youth.
The city's manager, speaking near the close of the program, thanked attendees and noted it was their first year participating in the event in that role. Breakfast and musical selections were scheduled as part of the program's agenda.
