County Auditor flags EMS district petition, staffing and payroll work ahead of elections

County Auditor Todd Taylor (Speaker 6) told supervisors that his office is handling routine year-end and early-year workload across elections, real estate, accounts receivable and payroll and that the office filed a large report with the state Department of Management on time.
Taylor said his real estate team has prepared the shapefile mapping needed for a proposed emergency medical services (EMS) district in unincorporated Linn, noting a small portion of the proposed district extends into Johnson County and that the statutory process requires clarity about voter eligibility and who pays election workers. "We have received, you know, information that, Unincorporated Linn wants to do a emergency medical services district," he said, and explained the office is coordinating with Johnson County and with state legislators on potential code changes to smooth the process. He also briefed supervisors on federal law changes affecting payroll and said the office is on track to issue W-2s and 1099s. Taylor described internal practices for staying coordinated across divisions, including weekly check-ins with managers. (Speaker 6)
