The Linn County Board of Supervisors approved second consideration of multiple code updates on Wednesday, moving forward amendments to local fire, construction, property maintenance and housing codes.
Luke Maloney, the county building official, told the board there were no additional public comments and that the updates reflect the 2024 code editions or clarifications for non-owner-occupied housing. One supervisor raised concern that construction-regulation changes could impose additional cost burdens on owners of smaller structures but said they would support the updates despite reservations.
Specifically, the board approved second consideration of an ordinance amending the Fire Code (Chapter 12, Article 2), of construction regulations (Chapter 105, Article 2), of the Property Maintenance Code (Chapter 105, Article 6) and the Housing Code (Chapter 105, Article 7). After motion and second on each item the board approved them by voice vote.
Luke and staff said changes were largely updates to bring local code text in line with newer editions and that no further public comment had been received during the second-consideration stage.
